Help Bring Yoga to Children in Haiti

Hi, I'm Natalie Dean.

This February I am teaching yoga-based stress relief to approximately 200 children living in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

Could you help me raise $2200 to make this trip possible?

Since the earthquake in January 2010, YogaKids' Bridge of Diamonds Foundation and Partners in Development have been sending teams of certified children's yoga teachers to work with children from Port-au-Prince. The volunteers teach yoga and art to these children who have suffered so much; in addition Haitian adults are trained to continue these programs. Volunteers have been coming in regular shifts as frequently as possible.

Why am I going?

When I began my YogaKids training my interest centered around bringing this healing and awakening practice to all children. I have seen its benefits in classrooms, in community centers, and in yoga studios. In Port-au-Prince, many children are still living in tents, are not attending school, and are malnourished. This program offers a respite from the continuing trauma of these circumstances.

How does your giving help?

Snacks and juice for children
Weekly salary for a Haitian yoga teacher
Teaching supplies: markers, crayons, paper, notebooks, scarves, stickers, games, egg rattles, beanie babies, marbles, play-doh, music, etc.
Misc. supplies: tarps, bungee cords, batteries, duct tape, sanitary wipes, etc.
Scholarships to train Haitian adults to lead YogaKids classes (staff of 5 - $3,000)
